The California Redwood has a distinctive seed that is found on the ground almost all year. I have had fun recently finding items in nature that I can replicate with precious metal clay. This Redwood Tree piece is a great example. It has a great shape and texture. I made a mold from it and then re-created it with pure silver PMC. Ad touch of gold was added to it to give it some highlights. It was then mounted on a teardrop shaped textured background and finished with a simple bail from which it can be hung from a sterling silver chain. The pendant measures 3/4" wide and 1 1/4" high.

PMC, or Precious Metal Clay, is a clay product which is easily worked, carved, textured, and shaped, and once fired results in a pure silver piece of art. (I use PMC that is .999 silver, but it is also available in .925 sterling silver, gold, bronze and copper).
